Excited for: Loafer love.

Since being back home from college my parents have been spoiling me like no other and I do not mind at all. These are my purchases from the past fifteen days.

  1. Steve Madden Elton Glitter Loafers.  I have partaken in the tomboy chic trend for a while now. So when the entire loafer fashion sprung into the scene I was in heaven. These give such your outfit such a twist. It's a much better alternative to the glitter Toms everyone is wearing.
  2. Chinese Laundry Tetris Loafers. My first Vegan shoes! I was in obsessed with these shoes as soon as I saw them. They have such a Havana in the fifties feel to them. The citrus color gives is such a fresh take to the woven trend. I would wear these with some shorts and chiffon shirt to feel like you are headed to party on a sunset in the beach.
  3. Marc Jacobs Amy watch.  A slight change to the Michael Kors watch on every wrist. This one is smaller and has Marc Jacobs written around the face of it. I love how it is big but not ostentatiously huge. I love how men inspired it is but looks quite girly yet.
  4. Novhe Cross bag   My sister in law gave me this bag for no apparent reason and I cannot believe how similar to Cartier it looks. Its small and fits all of  your essentials. Perfect with everything for a night on the town.
I just realized how almost all of these things match haha. Look forward to my next haul.

Thanks for reading!

Excited for: Princess Vera Wang Collection for Kohls.

As I was flipping through Teen Vogue last month I stumbled upon an editorial of fun looking clothes. I was not impressed until I saw a pair of glitter booties, since then I have been anxiously waiting for the Princess Vera Wang collection at Kohls. Yesterday I decided to go and write a review about it.

[Beautiful display]

When I entered the store I was quite impressed with the mounting and exhibition of the line, it looked quite boutique-ish. Right away I went through the clothes then entered a terrible realization: as senior in college with potential jobs or internships that require professional looking clothes, these no longer fitted my wardrobe. There were some great basic pieces like the blazers and shirts but the rest of it does cater to a younger audiences which I am devastated to realize I may no longer be part of.

But enough with the sob story, I did try on a few pieces regardless whether they were age appropriate.

So I first tried on this Candies pleated skirt. I had been eyeing it for a while and yesterday I finally tried it on. I think it is actually quite flattering for a pleated skirt and I think it would look great with a blazer on top of it. It also comes with a neon belt which is detachable but I think gives the skirt a twist.

I tried on this pink tutu skirt and thought it was quite cute. It has sparkles all over the tule and does not itch. The only setback is that it is too short and I do not think it is appropriate for anybody out of high school. This was the item that gave me my sad epiphany about age.  The sweater is cropped and is made out of a warm fabric. I think it could be used with jeans and a shirt underneath.

Next I tried on the dress that I though was the funnest. The lace at the bottom is beautifully made. But again, I felt this dress was too young. As if I could find it in Hot Topic, its really well made but it is for someone younger.

What I felt was the star in the collection was the denim vest. It has leather details at the top and back and has embroidery. I think this is a definite keeper and something that can give a girly rock and roll twist to every outfit.

Other Highlights included the following :

I hope you enjoy this review and that it helps in some way to your process.

Excited for: College Life

Call me nostalgic, call me dramatic, whatever. The only thing I know is that being stuck in West Texas over the summer is making me very well melodramatic. What is it with everything seeming more romantic from afar? Anyways this isn't this week's episode of Days of Our Lives, this is a recap of why being surrounded by a bunch of crazy artsy freaks makes living in this town that more exciting.

[unicycle football, yes that's right.]

So as you can imagine, leaving this for three internships seems quite a problem. Am planning to return to college with a larger sense of adventure and hopes of listening more to my thoughts to convert them in literary gold.

Excited for: Webster for Target

I have been a committed fan of Target's capsule since the days of Luella. This time around I decided to finally do a small review.

I got to my small town target expecting little merchandise but was surprised to find such a variety.

I went simply just to see what the new Shops concept was about and was pleasantly surprised to see such a variety of things.

Coming in to the store, I saw many things I enjoyed but only wanted to try on three things.

I saw this one on the rack and was surprised on how fun looking it was. It reminds me of a modern Lily Pulitzer (not that I own or love that brand). It highlights your curves but also makes the curves you don't want people to notice, be noticed. Needless to say I did not take it.
I next tried this one. If you can tell I love geometric shapes but I have to learn I am not a stick figure to pull them off so easily. I didn't take this one because it looks to much like a sack.

And finally I tried this beautiful green dress on. The colors were amazing and the shape was even better. A wrap dress can never go wrong. This dress does show off all your curves nicely. ;) And you guess correctly, this one went home with me.

Since this dress is for a family event I wanted some shoes to match them. I was fascinated when I found shoes that matched the dress completely. This pairs of wedges were semi comfortable but I wasn't really able to tell due to the elastic band detaining them. Also, I cannot walk in heels to save my life.

The Shops at Target are an amazing new with great new clothes. I liked the Miami inspired clothes from Webster and enjoy how it gives a sort of retro glam from the early sixties. Something people would wear in Cuba in its heyday (yeah I would have loved to be there). Since I live in Texas I feel this wardrobe would not be proper for the area. I would recommend this to any girl who wants to look cute.

Excited for: Roommates.

Just a random grocerie night.

I was extremely blessed this semester to be living with my two friends from back home.
This is Paulina and Estefania and they will be making plenty of appearances.
Besides both being extremely stylish, they are both photography majors.
So please meet my official photographers, it will be a blast.

Excited for: Random Facts

I like trees.

  • I was born in the United States, raised in Mexico but studied in the U.S. To many its a hard concept to grasp but to all of us from the border its just second nature.
  • I really dislike being photographed and am quite sensitive to negativity, not sure how this blog will turn out.
  • Fashion, history, music, photography, art, film, food, museums, comics and traveling but trust me I am no expert at any of it.
  • I just moved to Central Texas and am slowly trying to adapt. The move from a border west Texas town to this place has been amazing but so different, I am loving every moment.
  • Majoring in journalism, history, fashion merchandising and Spanish has inspired me to document all that I learn while making it fashion oriented.
  • I've been told I make a big deal out of everything that I like, so I am going to milk that and make that the tone of my blog.
Enjoy!

    Excited for: Magazines

I know. I know, I know. Trust me, you don't have to tell me. I do this all the time. I start a blog, I say I will continue it and then  -poof!- creativity out the window. In my defense I did start a new school so the whole relocating is getting hectic.

As for now, I still do not have a consistent photographer to be with me to photograph my ventures so no new pictures. But then again who says I am so interesting as to incite someone to follow me around. Maybe if I bribed him with pastries...

I feel like sharing my constant need to scrapbook my favorite editorials. I've been a magazine hoarder for as long as I can remember so about two years back I decided to cut out my favorites and put them in a book.
Hopefully this will one day work out for me.

Shown here, four of my favorites.
